</div><div style="text-align: justify;">We arrived home in Sydney at 6.30am this morning... only bumps were coming into Sydney, but here safe and sound.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Beth & Linda are mid air as I type on their way home to Gold Coast and Tamworth. We are all looking forward to bed tonight. Hard to stay awake though, any one who says they sleep on flights are kidding them selves, except for Business/first class... Singapore were a bit slow with the assistance for mum, but we made our connecting flight easy.. Those overseas airports make Sydney look like a regional airport.. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Once again I must say how much I loved Paris, the people were so friendly.. helps to stay away from tourist places I think. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Mum drove home safely from here and was already getting her bag unpacked, and organising her washing... </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">I have over 2000 photos... how am I ever going to put a book together out them I will never know.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Another big thank you to mum for giving us this wonderful opportunity, I have memories that will last a life time. And not to mention the dreams of future travel. </div>Currell Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00660945064547383402noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3741243758514421580.post-56381139926815438942011-03-25T08:16:00.000-07:002011-03-25T08:16:44.186-07:00It is nearly over<div style="text-align: justify;">Bonjour,</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Only a few hours left on solid ground... Paris is the greatest and I personally will return....</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">We have made the most of every minute and we are all totally stuffed.... The weather has been so kind to us while we have been away and we wish we packed more summer clothes.. Paris is HOT!!!!!</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">So off we head out again this time for a afternoon coffee... everything is at arms reach, we couldn't wished for a better location...</div><br />

</div><div style="text-align: justify;">While in the Peak District we meet Peter & Lorna, our 2nd cousins on our Paternal Grandmothers side. We loved our time with them and being showed all the sights of this area. Especially being welcomed into their home for dinner and walking up the road to meet Jen, Matt and the kids.</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The cottage we stayed in was built in 1598, mind blowing!! Our journey north took us slighly into wales, the country side changed quiet dramaticly and was stunning.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">On Monday we headed north up into Scotland, we went through York to visit the Minster. If any one is ever going to go to York ensure you use the Park & Ride option that the majority of large towns use. I couldn't get out of there, I was getting a little grumpy trying too.... but worth the stress.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The weather has been warm.. wish I packed something with short sleeves!! "Oh Scotland will be freezing!" is what everyone told us... CRAP!!! Bloomin 16-17* The coast line of East Scotland was amazing with the calm sae and the scatters of old ruins of castles. Hard to imaging what it would have been like back in their day.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">On Tuesday we drove up to see Pitlochry up above Perth, and yes Beth saw snow! from a distance. I tried to get as close as we could but the lane was getting too narrow. We had it all this day, started with a coastal walk past beach houses, then Beth a swim in the ocean.. Yes!! well a dip... then a few drops of rain and snow. Scotland is beautiful from the snippit we saw.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">The sun shone brightly for 95% of our time in the UK, and our only rain was in London and for 5 minutes in Pitlochry Scotland.</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Wednesday was our last day in the UK and we went for a sightsee around Edinburgh... before tackling the airport... once at the airport we had to organise help for mum and it made this part of the trip to Paris more managable. Just have to do the same for return to Sydney leg too. </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">So we are in Paris.... it is Thursday morning I haven't see the Tower yet but will be shortly!!! after checking in and mum going to bed us 3 went across the road to Harry's New York bar.... Well that was an expensive couple of scotches with a hot dog.... the atmosphere was well worth it though... not sure AB is thinking the same this morning.... It is warm here too....</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"> So that is a short update... photos will come shortly as I havent even had time to upload the past 3 days onto computer yet...</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Hope all is groovy with you all... </div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;">Jo & the Girls....</div> PS excuse spelling mistakes... it is trying to correct it in french... and remember I did have a few scotches last night....Currell Familyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00660945064547383402noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3741243758514421580.post-16064293109659221642011-03-17T10:34:00.000-07:002011-03-17T10:42:46.469-07:00Photos :)<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>

<br />
We are having a blast.....<br />
<br />
Today we having an easy day, back into Swanbourne then onto Milton Keynes and then to potter around and try and pack for tomorrow. Tomorrow we move up to the Peak District for 3 nights, and not sure if we will have Internet so thought we better bring you all up to date of what we have been up too.<br />
<br />
Monday: This was our last day with Ron & Shirley, we visited Charlton-on-Otmoor then bid farewell to our new family. From here we drove into Windsor and enjoyed a trip on the Hop on Hop off bus, we were lucky to have had such a glorious day. Dinner was at The Red Lion, Stratton Audley.<br />
<br />
Tuesday: An extremely foggy start to the day so I was little scared to drive on the motor ways as the drivers over here are a little bit CRAZY!!! so we visited little villages all through the Cotswolds. We had morning tea at Doddington after finding a fabulous antique store. I was able to find the village our Pommie friends are from, and Pauline was very impressed with my find :) .<br />
<br />
Wednesday: With fog and all I was confident enough to tackle the main roads... We headed down to Stonehenge, Woodhenge, Exeter, and the main attraction of the and the reason for such a long drive, Port Isaac. The Doc wasn't in he will be back next month. We enjoyed a Cornish pasty and an ice cream, we worth the drive for them. We headed back up through the hustle and bustle of Bristol then onto Bath (yes it was dark by now). It was a huge day in the car to cover such an amount of miles but we knew that was going to be the case for this day. <br />
<br />
I will upload a photo post this afternoon, as you could imagine there are so many too choose from.<br />
<br />
Hope all are groovy<br />

<br />
We arrived safe and sound just very tired.... gee its a long way....without sleep... flight was good bit rough over the Middle East.... left Sydney and hour late but arrived at Heathrow on time... London supplied us with a nice sunny day...<br />
<br />
After collect car, I took the liberty of getting very LOST!!!! but we saw heaps of the country side.... and it is beautiful.... <br />
<br />
After finally meeting up with Ron & Shirley Currell in Bicester, we had a well deserved coffee.. Ron then took Beth, Linda and I for a walk to see the local graveyard and church..<br />
<br />
The Grange Cottages are to die for, the country side is yet again beautiful... the animals make us feel right at home with Harry the black Lab, Tilly the cat that laid on your foot with every step, Alpacas, and an Irish Horse and 3 ponies...<br />
<br />
We had our first English Pub experience and it was everything we thought it would be...Yes a fire and great personalities.... not to mention a yummy curry... On leaving the publican gave us a memento to take home, a house shoe plaque, very fitting as dad loved his horseshoes....<br />
<br />
We all enjoyed a good night sleep, just want to find our land legs... still get the odd sway happening..<br />
<br />
Today we are off to Swanbourne to meet some of Ron's family and walk the grounds of our ancestors....<br />
<br />
Stay safe<br />
<br />
Lots of love the Girls....<br />

</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> I pick up the rest of my Pounds tomorrow, can't wait to get that in my hot little (chubby) hands.... I really do need to try on my clothes I have out to pack, but I am guessing that will happen next Saturday when I might actually have a free minute... I have replaced my camera and I love it... poor people on Facebook must be sick of all my practice shots... But I wanted to have it down pat before I leave...</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">We have Katelyn having a birthday prior to leaving and lets just say nothing has been done about that yet...So something to add to my list.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The first few days of our trip have been planned and we are all very excited about them.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><strong>Day 1 Fri 11th:</strong> arrive Heathrow, collect car and proceed to Bicester to meet Ron & Shirley. We will have lunch and check out the general area with them before we all proceed to check in at our cottages in Godington. R & S are spending 4 nights in a cottage next to us.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Ron & Shirley have been so kind to offer to do a small shop for us so we don't have to worry about that..considering we don't know how we will pull up after long flight. </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><strong>Day 2 Sat 12th:</strong> Spend day with R&S looking around Swanbourne and meeting 2 of Ron's sisters and a cousin. Lunch will be at a lovely Tea Room.. This location was actually scourced 12 months ago. This day will be one of the most rewarding of all our time away.. Definitely a few hankie kind of day.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><strong>Day 3 Sun 13th:</strong> Day trip into London :-) thought we should take advantage of the weekend to visit this city.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">So I hope everyone else with travel plans on the horizon are just as excited as us. Travel is a wonderful experience and I am so very grateful for this opportunity.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">To everyone affected by the Christchurch Earthquake, our hearts and thoughts go out to you all <3</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">So I thought considering our busy schedule over the next few weeks I better think about pulling out my winter woolies to see if I have enough suitable clothing to pack.. Yes I do, just need I pair of trackies and I am sweet to zip up the case.. I am also proud of myself, as I put half of what I pulled out back! well done I'd say..</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">On the home front everything is organised, I didn't really have to do much just make sure calender was up to date and write down some menu ideas for Matt to cook. I prepared meals in freezer and that is all I had to do, too easy... Oh I will have to teach Matt how to Skype.. We wont have mobiles with us so will rely on Skype and email plus don't forget Facebook.</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">My folder, maps, lonely planet book, family tree is already to pack, just have to find my passport. Na jokes I think I know where it is.... oh yes I do... ;)</span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: Arial;">It really is hard to believe we are going to finish the jigsaw puzzle that Dad/Cliff started 19 years ago. It is sad that he isn't here to share the experience with us, but I think he would be proud that we are going for him. He is always in our hearts <3 </span></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><br />

</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Batang", "serif"; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">After the passing of Edward in 1936 and Maud being admitted to a hospital in Stockton, </span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Batang", "serif"; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">Mary went to live with her half sister Maud Ester and her husband Henry James Jackson on their family property “Breawood”, it was a very hard life for Mary. During the week Mary would stay with Dora Salter (McNeill) so she could attend school. She remained with Maud Ester and Henry (Ma & Pa Jackson) and later moved with them to 10 Linden Street Barraba when they retired. Maud Ester passed away in 1979 and Mary then moved into a small apartment. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Batang", "serif"; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">Mary’s apartment was beautiful, she loved it, and this was told to us my Leila Jackson a wonderful friend of Mary. Leila was Maud & Henry’s daughter in law. Mary was very popular and had numerous friends; this though didn’t stop her from keeping things to herself. One thing that she kept to herself just a touch too long was the lump she discovered in her breast; it was to Leila she first did mention it too. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Batang", "serif"; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">Mary wasn’t going to let this Breast Cancer stop her from selling her Avon. As the local Avon lady she made sure her customers were well looked after, even when she was struggling to get around she would get herself by car and park outside the local chemist and catch customers as they went by. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Batang", "serif"; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">Mary remained a spinster for her entire life, which sadly ended on</span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Batang", "serif"; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"> the 13th August 1981. Mary lost her battle with Cancer, first breast then on to bone. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><br />

But not Cliff, being the organized man he was he did what the doctor told him. He ensured every last detail he could possible do was completed. He wanted Jo’s transition to be as smooth as possible. He was always thinking of others. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><br />

Cliff went and saw the funeral home with Beth and talked to them and had a look, a very difficult time for both of them but he wanted to spare Jo the pain. Joanne remembers one phone call she had while Jo was out regarding the funeral venue. “The Guardian funeral home in </span><span style="font-family: "Batang", "serif";">Blacktown</span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Batang", "serif"; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"> has a nice chapel, close to the train station” Cliff said, Joanne replies “so what good is that too you? That is what hearses are for, there not putting you in a parcel van. Those days are long gone.” With that he had a laugh. He did listen to anyone that had a suggestion for the funeral. Joanne's main concern was that the service be at his place of rest, he was not to go from place to place.</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><br />

Joanne still cries walking through the gates of Valley Heights Steam Tram Society. It is like he is their in some respect. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><br />

Keli would have loved to have been there but she now lived in <country-region w:st="on"><place w:st="on">New Zealand</place></country-region>. We had the big festive meal and presents galore, not to mention a few cold beverages. Cliff made a small speech to thank everyone for their love and support which was very warm and loving, and it was hard to not shed a tear. We all gave Cliff a book which was of the life of legendary country singer Slim Dusty, he started to read this as Slim was a </span><span style="font-family: "Batang", "serif";">favourite</span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Batang", "serif"; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"> of his, but he was never to complete the book. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Batang", "serif"; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">Boxing Day was held at Matt and Joanne’s; all but the exception of Linda and Mark was there as they had to head back to Dungowan. It was a very relaxed day by the pool with lots of food and once again those cold beverages came out in force. This may have been the hardest thing for Cliff not feeling well enough to have a beer. He did always love his beer, and always sought out what was on special that week before making a purchase.</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Batang", "serif"; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">From here he went down hill quick, his breathing was becoming weaker, and he was fading away to a shadow. This was hard watching a healthy, energetic person dwindle away. Matt, Jamie, Brett and Ben went out to see Pa and help Jo with a few things, not long after they left Jo had to call an Ambulance for Cliff. His breathing was shot!! That was it, 5 days in </span><city w:st="on"><place w:st="on"><span style="font-family: "Batang", "serif";">Blacktown</span></place></city><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Batang", "serif"; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"> hospital, never to come home again. The first few days he still had his facilities but they soon left the building. He would look at us and ask “where are the kids” he did love all his grandchildren so much. The last few days were horrible and I can still picture us all sitting on the floor and chairs by his bed side. The last 2 nights 2 of us would stay over night with him, he was never alone in the last few days. The strength of pulling together really showed through this most horrifying period of our lives. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Batang", "serif"; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">One afternoon while he was asleep due to the morphine Grant did his invoices for work with the help of Joanne, we were as normal as possible and he would not have wanted it any other way. We laughed, we cried, we picked on each other we did what any normal family would do. When he would come around when the drugs were wearing off he would put his hands up and ask what do I have to sign to finish this, he was always one to dot the I’s and cross the t’s. The night Joanne stayed over night with Cliff she had never cried so much she just let it out, the thought of him leaving them was too much to comprehend.<span style="mso-spacerun: yes;"> </span>Cliff didn’t want to go on for ever in hospital but he put on a fight, always taking just one more breath, then...another... then when we thought he had gone....one last one, he had to get the last word in! We in unison let out a laugh. It was hard to walk out and leave him there, but he is in all our hearts forever and that is what we have to do, cherish his memories.</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Batang", "serif"; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">Back at the house, Beth and Joanne went up to his desk to start to organize it and find the phone numbers required for the next step. Cliff had on a piece of paper jotted down <date day="20" month="1" w:st="on" year="2004">the 20th January 2004</date> and scribbled a square around it, </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Batang", "serif"; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">Beth and Joanne just held each others arm and froze; this was the day Cliff passed away the day we were holding this piece of paper. Do we show Mum or not? We did and now that piece of paper is safely away in the safe. He had jotted it down as it was the day the financial adviser was back from holidays.</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Batang", "serif"; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">There were more astonishing things we were to come across. On a hotel notepad which he had on the front cover titled, Things to Do. Then on every page was a name of an organization that required some form of action now that he had passed. In one </span><span style="font-family: "Batang", "serif";">colour</span><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Batang", "serif"; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;"> he had recorded any action he had done and then it was up to Matt to continue. Cliff was all for a smooth transition. When it came time to fill in the death certificate it showed what type of a character this man was. He had filled in everything he could. What person has the courage and strength to do that for others, what he was going through no one could fathom. He was one man that truly shone in our eyes. </span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><br />
</div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><span lang="EN-US" style="font-family: "Batang", "serif"; mso-ansi-language: EN-US;">But life for us had to go on there is a funeral to contend with, an outfit, food, all the little things that you really don’t want to deal with, you want crawl under a rock and cry! Well Joanne did want too. Beth, Joanne and Lauren went shopping to find something to wear to the funeral. Beth had not flown home and had not thought that to pack an outfit would be necessary. Joanne brought what she thought was a nice top for Ben, she washed it and hung it on her back line to dry, it vanished! Never to be seen again, till this day it has never shown up. It was if Pa didn't think it was good enough and took it with him.</span></div><div class="MsoNormal" style="line-height: 150%; margin: 0cm 0cm 0pt; text-align: justify;"><br />
